Accidentally Killed When Car Turn Over

By an oversight of the compositor, the Tribune last week failed to mention the death of Clarence Newkirk, the 15-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Newkirk, who live about 12 miles north-west of Blair, who was killed the previous Sunday evening while driving a stripped Ford car, the funeral being held Tuesday, and burial being made in the cemetery at Orum.

Clarence was helping Lars Jorgensen, a neighbor, and was on his way to Peter Toft’s on an errand for Mr. Jorgensen, and it was while he was driving past his home that the accident from his yard, and after the car made a couple of swerves across the road, it turned turtle. Whether the steering gear broke, or a wheel came off before the car turned over could not be told, because it was so badly demolished.

The accident cast a gloom over the entire neighborhood and the sympathy of all will go out to Mr. and Mrs. Newkirk in their bereavement, as Clarence was a manly little fellow and well liked by all who knew him.

Verne Newkirk and daughter came down from Minnesota and Henry Newkirk, came from South Dakota to attend the funeral and to do what they could to alleviate and suffering of the afflicted family.
