Bert Knutson Is Dead

Miss Anna Raver phoned the Enterprise that she has received a report of the death of Bert Knutson, second son of Mrs. Martin Knutson, a former resident of this city. His death occurred quite suddenly at Needles, Calif., on the 19th. He had been in California for the past ten years, since leaving Blair. The Knutson and Raver families were near neighbors on York Creek, northwest of Blair for many years in the early days. Martin Knutson met with an accident, when a gun with which he intended to kill chickens, was accidently discharged, the charge entering his forehead and totally blinding him for life. The family subsequently moved to this city, purchasing and occupying the brick house at the southwest corner of Fourth and Washington Streets where Knutson died.

Mrs. Knutson and her children, three sons and two daughters, retained the York Creek farm and later traded it to Chas. McMeneny for the residence property at the west end of Washington Street where they reside for a number of years, later disposing of this property and she and the two daughters going to Stanley County, South Dakota, and settling on a homestead where they have since resided. The eldest son, Anton graduated from Blair High School, attended the Norwegian College at Decorah, Ia., for a time and later graduated from the literary and law departments of the Nebraska University and was reputed to be one of the best educated men turned out by the institution. Miss Raver says that he and his brother, Bert, whose death has just occurred, published a paper at or near Los Angeles at one time.

Mrs. William Raver last week received the news of the death of her nephew, Bert M. Knutson, the second son of her brother, Martin, which was very sudden at Needles, Calif. Bert Knudson was reared to manhood on York Creek, and he as well as the entire family are well know here. He was making preparations to return to Dakota where his mother and family reside and go into the stock raising business with his brother. Besides his mother, Mrs. Martin Knutson, leaves a wife, a sister and two brothers. No particulars regarding his death has been learned by his Blair relatives.
