#1 Calvin Bruce Funeral Set

Funeral services for Calvin Bruce, a 35-year-old construction worker who died from injuries he suffered on the job, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Church, Interdenominational, 15555 West Dodge Road.

Bruce, of Washington, Neb. died Friday at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha. He had suffered internal injuries March 20 when a wall fell on him while he was working at the Norfolk wastewater treatment plant.

Strong winds apparently toppled the wall, a plant official said. Another employee, Denis Blankman, 28, of Plattsmouth, received minor injuries in the accident. The men worked for ShorCo Inc., a construction company.

A native Nebraskan, Bruce and his fiancée, Ruby Petersen, recently had bought a house in Washington, said his mother, Marilyn Bruce of Kennard. The couple were to be married April 15.

“It’s so sad,” Ms. Bruce said. “We were supposed to be planning a wedding right now.”

Bruce grew up in Kennard and graduated from Arlington High School in Arlington, Neb. He had worked with ShorCo Inc. for about four years, Ms. Bruce said.

“He touched so many people’s lives,” she said. “There was no stranger to him. He had friends all over.”

Other survivors are his father, Eric Bruce of Tekamah; grandmother, Irma Bruce of Tekamah; and brothers Vince and Scott, both of Kennard.

#2 Calvin James Bruce, 35

Services for Calvin James Bruce, 35 of Washington, Nebraska, who died April 7, 1995 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha from injuries received on a construction job, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 1995 at the Trinity Church—Interdenominational at 15555 W. Dodge Road in Omaha. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tekamah Cemetery, Tekamah, Nebraska.

Calvin James Bruce was born November 26, 1959 in Blair, Nebraska to Eric and Marilyn Sanders Bruce. He was a graduate of Arlington High School.

He was employed as a carpenter for ShorCo, Inc. of Omaha.

He is survived by his fiancé, Ruby Peterson of Washington, Nebraska; mother, Marilyn Bruce of Kennard, Nebraska; father Eric Bruce of Tekamah, Nebraska; grandmother, Irma Bruce of Tekamah; two brothers, Vince Bruce and Scott Bruce, both of Kennard, Nebraska and a niece, Jessica and nephew, Colton.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
