Dirk Mitchell Kisicki was born April 15, 1955 in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Donald and Arlene (Snyder) Kisicki. He passed away in his home in Tekamah on June 20, 2018, with his wife, Teresa, holding his hand.

He graduated from Archbishop Ryan High School in 1973 and from Omaha Metro Community College with a degree in fabrication in welding.

Dirk and Teresa lived together five years and were married on July 18, 1997.

He was a hard worker and a very devoted brother, husband, father, friend and grandpa.

Dirk loved to fish! He would tell Teresa he was going fishing, sometimes for three days at a time. He would text (he didn’t like talking on the phone) to let her know that he was OK, and, if he had caught “the” big catfish, so she wouldn’t be surprised if it splashed her from the bathtub in the middle of the night, or if she found it in the kids swimming pool in the morning. It happened a few times, before he got wise and warned her in advance. She could tell you lots of fish stories and she never went fishing.

He loved taking the kids fishing and camping when they were little; as adults he enjoyed spending time with them. He loved being with his grandkids and teaching them about the world and life. Papa always said, “no cold babies.”

Dirk was loved by all, he was very kind hearted, would always help anyone, he loved to joke and have fun. Three weeks ago, he said he wanted to have a big party, and here we are, having a big party for him.

He would always say, “Actions speak louder than words!" In the end, he told Teresa and the kids he was excited about exploring the other realm.

He leaves behind his wife, Teresa; children, Timothy, Paige, Savanna and Daniel; grandchildren, Caylin, Arlene, Paisley and Lily; sisters, Lynell Curtin and Lisa Robinson; brothers-in-law, Eugene and Rich Robinson; many nieces and nephews; many great- nieces and nephews.

Visitation with family and friends was held Friday, June 22, 2018, and the memorial service was held Saturday, June 23, 2018, at The Village Clubhouse in Tekamah, followed by a barbecue.

Memorials are to the family for a later designation.
