Gerald Matthew Underwood, age 59 of Blair, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018, at his home in Blair. Visitation was held Sunday, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home and the memorial service was held on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Blair.

Jerry was born on March 27, 1959, at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base near Tucson, Ariz., the son of Patrick and Barbara Underwood. Jerry's father was in the United States Air Force and the family was stationed at several different bases over the years. Jerry graduated from Manhattan High School in Montana in 1977. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force. Jerry met Rebecca Woodard in Michigan and the couple was united in marriage on July 28, 1979, in Gwinn, Mich. In 1980, the couple welcomed their first child, Michael, and then in 1981, their daughter, Jennifer. In 1982, Jerry was honorably discharged from the Air Force and the family moved back to Nebraska. Over the past several years, Jerry was employed with the Blair Community Schools.

Jerry enjoyed fishing and loved watching his Huskers. He was an avid Husker fan during good times and bad. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Becky Underwood; children, Mike (Cheree) Underwood of Lincoln and Jenny (Tim) Leake of Omaha; grandchildren, Aliya, Lexi, Aubrie, Dae Shaun and Jonathan; mother, Barbara Underwood of Churchill, Mont.; siblings, Diana (Glen) Flikkema, Debra (David) Hinchcliff, David (Jody) Underwood all of Churchill; sister-in-law, Debra Woodard of Blair; brother-in-law, Michael Woodard of Blair; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Kay Woodard of Blair; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Underwood.

Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
