Daniel L. Crull

Daniel L. Crull, age 86, of Fremont, died Thursday March 15, 2018, at Fremont Health Medical Center.

He was born December 6, 1931in Arlington, Nebraska to Roy and Hazel (Krum) Crull. He grew up in the Arlington area and graduated from Arlington High School. He began working at Hormel’s, but went into the Navy in 1951, serving until being discharged in 1955. While in the Navy he received several commendations, including the National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal, China Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Medal. Following his discharge, he came back to farm north of Hooper. While farming, he also worked at Hormel and Hoegemeyer Hybrids, Elkhorn Valley Golf Club at Hooper, and then Fremont Country Club.

On January 12, 1953, he was married at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont to Margaret Fagen. Margaret lived in Hawaii while Daniel continued his service in the Navy.

Daniel was a member of St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont, American Legion Post 18 in Hooper, VFW Post 10535 in Hooper, and he was also a member of the 40 & 8 Voiture 1018.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret on December 31, 1999, by a daughter Danna, granddaughter Ashley Peterson, and brother Howard.

Survivors: 3 sons – Eric (Cindy) Crull, David (Gayle) Crull, and Mitchell (Olivia) Crull, all of Fremont
2 daughters – Martha (Lon) Peterson, Omaha and Erin Sass, Fremont
22 grandchildren
11 great grandchildren
2 great, great grandchildren

There will be a Rosary in the Chapel of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Sunday evening at 7 PM. The family will greet friends in the chapel area beginning at 6 PM. The funeral mass will be 10:30 Monday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with a private family committal service in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Hooper VFW Post 10535 Scholarship Fund.
