Services for Mrs. Ray "Gladys" Breidert, 80, who died Tuesday, July 30, 1985, in the Crowell Home, were Saturday in the First United Methodist Church in Columbus. The Rev. Denny Silk officiated and burial was in the Hope Cemetery in Newman Grove.

Mrs. Breidert was born March 2, 1905, the daughter of Bert and Anna Homan of Newman Grove. She married Ray Breidert, Nov. 21, 1938 in Madison.

She was a member of the Harmony chapter No. 13 of the Order of the Eastern Star as well as a member of: the League of Women Voters, The Rock and Mineral Society, the Columbus Camera Club, president of the Business and Professional Women's Club, Nobel Grand for Rebekah Lodge in Madison, president and secretary of the Nebraska County Superintendent Association, the Nebraska State Education Association and the National Education Association, the American Association of School Administrations, the Nebraska Council for Better Education and Department of Rural Education of the NEA, association member of the state Schoolboard's Association and the State Reading Circle Committee.

Mrs. Breidert was also a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Pi Gamma Mu, Delta Kappa Gamma and Phi Delta Gamma.

She graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1922, received her B.A. degree from Wayne State College in 1957, her masters from the University of Nebraska in 1962, and was named a Neihardt Preceptress in WSC 1955-56.

Mrs. Breidert taught and was superintendent for several rural school districts in Madison, Boone, Howard and Platte counties.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ted (Dorothy) King of Newman Grove; one brother, Dr. Bert G. Homan of Orange Park, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters and one brother.
