Tekamah Man Victim of Heart Attack-Roland Wachter Dies of Heart Attack While in Mountains

Roland Wachter, 45, years of age, Tekamah, died of a heart attack Thursday while vacationing with his wife in Wyoming.

Mr. and Mrs. Wachter were on a fishing and vacation trip in the Big Horn mountains when he was stricken. It is reported that Mr. Wachter’s cousin and his wife, Dr. and Mrs. Frank Hadley, Joliet, Wyoming, accompanied them into the mountains, near Story, Wyoming.

Mr. Wachter, who owned and operated the Wachter Clothing Store in Tekamah, is survived by his wife, Mildred, two children, Janet Kay and Ronnie; his mother, Mrs. Ethel Wachter, Herman; three brothers, Kenneth and James Wachter, Herman and Leo Wachter, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Mr. Wachter was born January 5, 1912 and was graduated from Herman High School and Wayne State Teachers College.

He was past commander of the Masonic Landmark Lodge No. 222 at Herman, Royal Arch Chapter in Tekamah, Jordan Commandery of Blair, Tangier Shrine at Omaha, Tekamah Chapter, Order if Eastern Star, Past Worthy Patron of Herman Chapter OES, Tekamah Chapter DeMolay.

He had also been an elder o the First Presbyterian Church here, member of the Chamber of Commerce, and at one time served on Washington County Board of Supervisors and had been a member of the Board of Education at Herman.

Funeral services will be held today (Monday) at 2 o’clock at the Tekamah Presbyterian Church. Interment follows in the Herman Cemetery.
