Mr. Jenkins devoted many years to public service as Treasurer of the City of Blair, as Treasurer of the Board of Education for the City schools, and as Treasurer for the First Methodist Church of this community. He was a past president of the Nebraska State Bankers Association and a member of the United Brethren Church of Battle Creek, Nebr.

Besides his wife, Irene, he is survived by Mrs. John Bruse (Ruth) of Blair, Nebraska; Professor Earl F. Jenkins of the University of Nebraska; and Dr. Warren C. Jenkins of Northwestern University School of Medicine in Evanston, Illinois. There are 11 grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his father and mother, and one brother, Raymond.

Services were held May 20th at the Methodist Church at 2 P.M. The Rev. Richard Atherton officiated and burial was in the Blair Cemetery. The Campbell Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Wayne Lambertz, Lyle Guyer, David Mummert, George Jackson, Peter Stricklett, and Ed Jipp, Jr.

Earl L. Jenkins, Former Banker Died Here Friday

Mr. Earl Lyman Jenkins passed away at the Community Memorial Hospital in Blair last Friday, May 17th. His life was spent in the field of banking.

Since coming to Blair in 1933 he spent almost 20 years with the Washington County Bank before his retirement in 1951. Before that service he was a bank in Kennard, Nebraska, and started his career of finance in a bank in Tilden, Nebraska in 1915. He lived during the hard years when in the 30’s there was financial panic and depression. He faced uneven times during World War I and II.

His life began in a quieter century, for he was born June 25, 1888 at Battle Creek, Nebraska, and from this farm home and early training he went to York College. On October 6, 1915 he was married to Irene Nelson at Tilden, and the couple enjoyed more than 50 years together.

SERVICES FOR EARL JENKINS TO BE MONDAY

Services for Earl Lyman Jenkins will be on Monday, May 20, at the Methodist Church in Blair. Reverend Richard Atherton will officiate at the 2:00 p.m. service.

Mr. Jenkins was in the banking busines before his retirement. He was 79 years of age at the time of his death. He passed away on Friday at the Blair Memorial Hospital. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, who resides at 2119 Lincoln Street in Blair. There are three surviving children. They are Mrs. John (Ruth) Bruse of Blair; Earl F. Jenkins, Lincoln; and Dr. Warren Jenkins, Evanston, Illinois. There are also eleven surviving grandchildren.

Casketbearers will be Wayne Lambertz, Lyle Guyer, Dave Mummert, Gordon Vinton, and George Jackson. Campbell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
