L. R. Fletcher

Lee R. Fletcher, a pioneer farmer of Washington County, died at his home in Omaha last Thursday after a long illness being past 80 years of age. Mr. Fletcher was born and reared in Maine and came west in an early day. He retired a few years ago from the farm and moved to Omaha with his wife to spend their declining years. There were nine children, six of whom with the wife survive him. The children are, Mrs. William Gould of Omaha, Mrs. William Watson of Colorado, Earl R. and Omar of Bancroft, Neb., E. J. of Nacora, and Clifford J. of Omaha. Other relatives are a widowed sister, Mrs. Mary Bailey, who makes her home with a half-brother, Ed Fletcher of New England, and Ernest Fletcher, rural mail carrier out of Herman, who is also a half-brother. There are also a number of nephew and nieces.

The funeral was held from the Baptist Church in Blair on Sunday at 2:30. The aged wife, who is a sister of Jim and Eph Lippincott of this place, is in feeble health and was not able to be present. Interment was made in the Blair Cemetery where two of his children are buried.

L. R. Fletcher, died at his home in Omaha, 37th and Laurel Ave., last Thursday evening from the results of a paralytic stroke, living but about an hour after the hemorrhage occurred. The body was brought up here Sunday morning and the funeral held at the Baptist Church at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Rev. W. H. Underwood officiating in the place of Rev. Mr. Foreman, who was out of the city.

Deceased was born in Searmount, Me., June 13, 1836, and was therefore past 80 years of age. He came to this county in 1858 and was married to Miss Mary Lippincott at the residence of her brother, T. P. Lippincott, in Cuming City, in December, 1863. Nine children were born to them, six of whom are living, Mr. Wm. Gould, of Omaha, and Mrs. Wm. Watson, of Paonia, Colo., Earl R. and Omaha R. of Bancroft, Ephraim J. of Nocora, Neb., and Clifford, of Omaha.
