Ethel Mae (Miller) Schmidt was born May 4, 1930 to Lorens and Ida (McDonald) Miller in their home in Blair, Nebraska. She passed away July 21, 2018, at the age of 88 years, at the Tekamah Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tekamah, Nebraska.

Ethel graduated from Blair High School in 1948. She worked for Mutual of Omaha for a short time.

On January 2, 1949 Ethel married James Schmidt in Logan, Iowa. Three children were born to this union: Suzanne, Cheryl and Robert.

Ethel lived in Tekamah for part of her life, later moving to Blair. Most of her life she was a homemaker, and later a live-in caregiver for the elderly. Ethel was a very giving and loving person.

Ethel loved to dance, whether it was to the tunes of polka or ballroom dancing. She was always dressed for the occasion and gliding across the dance floor.

She liked to garden and loved flowers. Her home in Blair was always surrounded with flowers and was the prettiest in the neighborhood.

Ethel enjoyed family gatherings no matter what the occasion. Just being able to spend time with the family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren brought her so much joy. She lived to see the family grow to five generations.
