Lloyd J. Brewer, 75, of Blair, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Services were Monday, Aug. 23, at Country Bible Church.

Lloyd J. Brewer was born July 17, 1924 to Virgil and Alma (Hetrick) Brewer in Madison.

He graduated from the Madison High School and entered the merchant marines with whom he served during World War II.

On June 4, 1945, he married Virginia Apfel in Madison.

The couple lived in Norfolk where he managed the Hinky Dinky Store until 1967.

Then the couple moved to Millard where he was a sales representative for Fleming Companies.

After his retirement, they moved to Blair.

He was a member of the Blair American Legion and the Omaha Elks Club.

He is survived by his wife Virginia; daughter, Gail L. Brewer-Fletcher of Kingsley, Iowa; one granddaughter, Miranda D. Young of Blair; one great-granddaughter, Mariah D. Young of Blair; one brother, Dick Brewer of Norfolk; and two sisters, Jean Patzel of Lincoln, and Faye Austin of Meadow Grove.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair was in charge of arrangements.
