Pioneer Gone

John Fitzgerald, St., of South Omaha passed away at his home in that city on last Saturday morning.

Mr. Fitzgerald was one of the earliest settlers around old Rockport and the last of them to pass away. Coming to this county in the early days he watched the country through its development into an old settled country.

He has four children, residing in this county: Jack and Dan, and Mrs. Tom Kelly and Mrs. Leahy, also one other son, Thomas, who resides in South Omaha. He made his home with his single daughter, Jane. One other son, George, died about a year ago.

The funeral services were held Monday from the St. Bridget’s Church of South Omaha and is said to be the largest assemblage ever witnessed from that church on a like occasion, all the old neighbors from around Rockport being present. Father O’Driscoll of this city was also present.
