Salesman Had Lived Here 26 Years; wife, Four Children Survive

Ted Lathrop, 48, former Blair grocer and a resident of this city more than a quarter of a century, died suddenly Monday afternoon at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Victim of heart trouble, he had only recently returned to his home at 704 West Lincoln St. after suffering a severe heart attach while outstate. He became suddenly ill again Monday afternoon.

The body was removed the Fick Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at the Christian Church, Second and Lincoln Sts., at 2 p.m. Saturday, The Rev. Homer L. McKinley will officiate, and interment is to follow in Blair Cemetery.

Mr. Lathrop was born Mar. 22, 1901, at Nebraska City, where he resided as a boy. Later he worked in California for a time, then was employed in Ord before coming to Blair to work for Julius Mueller in the grocery business.

Mr. Lathrop and Margaret Norris of Ord were married Sept. 18, 1923, at Ord, and came immediately to Blair their home since. Mr. Lathrop later purchased the Mueller Grocery and operated it for a number of years before selling to Martin Bertelsen.

Since leaving the grocery business, Mr. Lathrop had been a salesman, the past number of years for the merchants Wholesale Grocery Co. of Omaha.

Surviving Mr. Lathrop are his wife, Margaret; three sons, Robert, a student at the University of Nebraska, Ted. Jr., and James at home; a daughter, Margaret Ann, of Omaha and Blair; and two sisters, Mrs. E. E. Fricke, of Ogallala and Mrs. Thomas Martin of Arboles, Colo.

A daughter, Betty Jean, oldest of the Lathrop children, died at the age of 6 from burn received from a gas stove. Also preceding Mr. Lathrop in death was a sister, Ruth, many years ago.

TED LATHROP DIES MAY 3RD Ted Lathrop, former merchant in Blair, passed away May 3rd in an Omaha hospital. Deceased was born in Nebraska City and was 48 years of age at his death.

He leaves to mourn him his wife and three sons, Robert J., who is a student in the University at Lincoln; Ted Norris and James Wilson Lathrop, and one daughter, Margaret Ann.

Ted was a man of high character, and a member of the Christian church and there the funeral rites will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. under the auspices of the Fick Funeral Home. Rev. McKinley will give the funeral oration.
