Her headstone name: Mabel Cecelie Jessen Christiansen

Mrs. Harry Christensen died very suddenly yesterday at the home of her husband’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Christensen, out in the Orum neighborhood. Some time ago she was severely hurt in an automobile accident and had never fully recovered from the effects of her injuries. She was taken to a sanitarium at Lincoln for treatment and seemed to improve so Harry brought her home Sunday. She seemed to be overjoyed to see her little baby and was holding him in her lap when she suddenly complained of a pain in her head. In ten minutes, she was dead. It is believed that a blood clot on the brain was the cause.

Mabel Jessen was born November 9th, 1901, and would therefore have been 21 years of age in a few days. She was married to Harry Christensen October 8th, 1919 of this year and a son was born to them on June 10th of this year. The funeral will be held at 1 o’clock at the Henry Christensen home tomorrow, Thursday, Rev. N. P. Lang, of this city, officiating. Burial will be in the Orum Cemetery.

MRS. HARRY CHRISTENSEN DIED VERY SUDDENLY

Mrs. Mabel Jessen Christensen died at the home of her husband’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Christensen, at Orum on Monday afternoon, aged 21 years.

A few months ago Mrs. Christensen was a patient in the Blair hospital, suffering a nervous breakdown incident to the birth of a child. She was taken from there to Lincoln for medical treatment where she remained until Sunday when she returned with her husband who had gone down after her. She was very happy to get back and of course was delighted to see her baby, who was being cared for by Mr. Christensen’s mother. On Monday she complained of a queer feeling in her head and said it was unlike any she had every had, and in ten minutes the young wife and mother had passed from the scenes of earth.

The physician in diagnosing the trouble after death, said a clot of blood had formed on her brain, causing her mental condition.

Two years or more ago the young woman was in an automobile accident and severely hurt; her spine was injured and several ribs broken, and it is thought her death was superinduced by this accident.

Deceased was formerly Miss Mabel Jessen, a daughter of Mrs. Chris Jessen of Orum. For several years previous to her marriage to Harry Christensen she kept house for her brother, Joe Jessen, one of Washington county’s splendid young men. Mrs. Christensen had many friends who will grieve with the family over the untimely passing and who extend condolence to the mother, husband, brother and sister and the innocent little child who will never know a mother’s care and love.

The funeral will be held today - Thursday - at 1:00 p.m. from the home of her father-in-law, Henry Christensen, at Orum, conducted by Rev. Lang. Interment will be made in the Orum cemetery.
