George M. Antill was instantly killed Monday night at about 11:30 while driving home from Omaha in his car, in company with John Fisher, the latter being only slightly bruised. They were on the detour road about 2 ½ miles out of Florence. The road turns suddenly and the turn is shaded by some trees. Not knowing the road well, he drove over the bank and was pinned beneath the steering wheel and met death almost instantly. Fisher tried to release the body but was unable to do so. He went to a farm house near by and got help but it was too late, his neck was broken. The body was taken to Omaha for a coroner’s inquest and was brought up home on the afternoon train yesterday.

The funeral will be held at the family residence on South Street at 2:30 this afternoon, Rev. W. H. Underwood officiating. Deceased was born at Woodfield, Ohio, March 15th, 1875, and was therefore, 46 years old last March. His parents moved to Corning, Ia., where he grew to manhood, later to Omaha, where he was married to Miss Jennie Jacobs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Jacobs, of this city, November 25th, 1899. They came to this county eighteen years ago and settled on a farm north of Blair. Later he went into the grocery business on the north side and still later in the garage business with VanHuss. He is survived by his wife and four daughters, Mrs. Paul Taylor, of Omaha, Helen, Arlene and Georgia, the youngest being five years of age. Also two brothers and two sisters, W. D. of Glenwood, Ia., John, of Wymore, Neb., Mrs. C. L Grant, of Omaha and Mrs. L. R. Franklin, of Spokane, Wash.

He carried $3,000 in the Northwestern Life Ins. Co.

The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of the entire community.

VICTIM OF AUTO ACCIDENT- WELL KNOWN REAL ESTATE MAN KILLED INSTANTLY

Geo. M. Antill, for years actively engaged in real estate and garage business in this city, was instantly killed about six miles north of Omaha by the overturning of his auto at about eleven o’clock on Monday night, Aug. 22.

Mr. Antill had gone to Omaha to purchase tires for his stock and was detained later than he thought, thus necessitating the night drive which ended so disastrously.

He was born in Woodsfield, Ohio March 15, 1875 and was thus past 46 years of age.

He was married to Miss Jennie B. Jacobs at Omaha Nov. 25, 1899.

For a number of years they resided on a farm just west of this city, now known as the Oscar Gilbertson farm. George was classed as a good farmer and prospered and later sold the farm to a good advantage. He then moved to town and engaged in the real estate business and later in the garage business in company with Will Van Huss.

The wife and four children, besides two brothers and two sisters, are left to mourn his departure. The children are Mrs. Mildred Taylor of Omaha, Helen, Arline and Georgia. The brothers are W. D. of Glenwood, Iowa and John of Wymore, Neb. and the sisters are Mrs. C. L. Grant of Omaha and Mrs. L. R. Franklin of Spokane, Washington.

The body was taken to Omaha after being extricated from under the car, and later on Tuesday afternoon brought to the home in this city from which place the funeral ceremony was held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock with Rev. Underwood officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

GEORGE M. ANTILL KILLED IN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT

George M. Antill of this city was instantly killed Monday night about 11:30 as he was returning from Omaha. The accident occurred on the river road just north of Florence where the car skidded off the embankment and turned on its side, pinning the unfortunate man underneath the car and driving his head and shoulders into the mud. His neck was broken.

John Fischer of Blair was making the trip with Mr. Antill and was thrown clear of the wreckage when the car overturned, and aside from a slightly bruised arm, was uninjured. Mr. Fischer tried to remove the car from his companion, but being unable to do so, sought aid of Fred Rupp, who lived just across the road from where the accident occurred. together they raised the car, but found that Mr. Antill was dead.

The coroner and sheriff of Douglas county were at once notified and came at once to the scene and removed the body to Omaha where it was prepared for burial, and arrived in Blair Tuesday afternoon on the 2 o’clock train where it was met by a concourse of friends and taken to his late home on west South street. It was a sad homecoming to the family who had so recently seen him in his usual good health.

George Mason Antill was born in Woodsfield, Ohio March 15, 1875 and was 46 years, 5 months and 7 days old at the time of his death. He was married on November 25, 1899 to Miss Jennie B. Jacobs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Jacobs of this city, the ceremony being performed in Omaha.

They resided for some time on a farm near Blair, after which they moved to town. He conducted a store here and afterwards became identified with W. A. VanHuss in the automobile business, which business he followed up to the time of his demise.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday at the family home at 2:30 pm., Rev. W. H. Underwood having charge of the obsequies, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

There survives him the widow, four daughters, Mildred - Mrs. Paul Taylor - Helen, Arline and Georgia, the youngest being five years of age. Two brothers, W. D. Antill of Glenwood, Iowa and John Antill of Wymore, Nebr.; two sisters, Mrs. C. L. Grant of Omaha and Mrs. R. L. Franklin of Spokane, Wash.

A large number of friends and acquaintances attended the funeral.
