#2-31 Mar., 1921 - The Enterprise - Josephine B. (Baldwin) Tucker

Miss Josephine B. Baldwin was born in New York June 12, 1845 where she resided with her parents until she was about twelve years of age when the family moved to Minnesota.

She was married to Geo. Spaulding July 18, 1863, and to this union four children were born, only one of whom, Mrs. M. A. Wilcox, is now living.

In 1875 she was married to John H. Tucker, and to this union three children were born, two of whom, Mrs. Bereah Compton and Mr. Percy Tucker are living.

Mrs. Tucker has for a number of years made her home with Mrs. Elias Wilcox, and was there when she was taken ill in last December, but was later moved to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bereah Compton, where she died on March 28.

Mrs. Tucker was a woman of broad acquaintance, and her friends were many. A woman of a kindly, lovable, Christian character and living a life of purity, she was loved by her friends and respected by all. It was always a pleasure to meet her and no one could come in contact with her without feeling the influence of her sunny, hopeful temperament. Being an early settler in the county and knowing the pioneer life, she had a stock of valuable and entertaining reminiscences which made her society a valued one.

It has been the pleasure of the writer to have known the deceased intimately for over twenty years, and with her demise we feel that we have lost a good friend which can never be replaced, and we grieve sincerely with other friends that she had to answer the call common to us all.

The funeral was held yesterday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church in this city with Rev. Underwood officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Mr. Wm. Sievers, undertaker of Ft. Calhoun, and an old friend of the deceased, had charge of the burial rites.

The pallbearers were also old friends, being Joe Lazure, Grant and Scott Allen, Jerry, Mike and Robert Foley.
