#1-Published in the Pilot August 17, 1921

W. K. Jones died at the Blair Hospital last Friday night from blood poising. He ran a sliver under his thumb nail some two weeks ago and blood poison set in. His hand hurt him so while at the Methodist Church two weeks ago Sunday that he had to leave the church. It grew rapidly worse and he was finally taken the hospital where he could have expert care and attention, but paralysis set in and when it reached the heart it stopped beating

The funeral was held at the Methodist Church Sunday afternoon, the service being conducted by Rev. J. A. Johnson, the sermon being preached by his former pastor, Rev. W. H. Underwood. The church was crowded to the doors and the wealth of flowers showed something of high esteem in which the deceased was held in this community and at Herman, his former home. The pallbearers were from the A.O.U.W. Lodge at Herman, in which he carried a policy for $2,000. He was a member of the official board of the Methodist Church and had served as one of the ushers for many years.

Wilfred Knighton Jones, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Andrew Jones, of this city, was born in Valparaiso, Ill., November 14th, 1867, and was therefore, almost 54 years of age. When he was 13 years old his parents came to this state, settling near Herman, where he grew to manhood’s estate. Later they moved to Holt County, where W. K. met and married Miss Almaretta Connelly at Petersburg, Neb., March 22nd, 1892. The new home was established at Herman, where five children, were born to them, three of whom are now living, Orlo Wilfred, of Omaha, Gussie, of this city, and Mrs. Earl D. French, of Herman. Lois Verna died at the age of 17 and baby Winifred lived but ten days. Mrs. Jones passed away September 5th, 1914.

#2-18 Aug., 1921 - The Enterprise - W. K. Jones

W. K. Jones was born in Valparaiso, Indiana in Nov. of 1867, and with his parents came to this state in 1881. Three years were passed in Holt county after which the family moved to Herman where they resided until a few years ago when they moved to this city.

He was married to Miss Etta Connelly and to them were born four children, three of whom are still living. Mrs. Jones preceded her husband to the great beyond seven years ago, and to the father was left the duty of keeping the family together which he has done in a way that but few men could do.

A few weeks ago he suffered an attack of blood poisoning in his hand caused by running a sliver into the injured member and later received a slight paralytic stroke. He was taken to the hospital last Thursday night at 9 o’clock and died at 12 o’clock Friday night.

Deceased was an honest, conscientious, Christian gentleman who was held in the highest respect by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church in this city on Sunday, Aug. 14 at 3:30 o’clock with Rev. Underwood officiating, and interment made in the Blair cemetery.

He leaves to mourn him his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jones, and three children, Gussie M., Orlo and Mrs. Earl French.
