Chloe Ellen (McConnell) Longcor

Mrs. M. H. Longcor died at her home in north Blair last Friday afternoon at 4:40p.m. She moved to Blair from Wayne last February and a few days later she fell from the top of the stairs and fractured her right hip. She seemed to improve for a time, but Saturday of last week she was taken worse, death following a week later. The funeral was held at the house at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. C. M Foreman officiating. Chloe Ellen McConnell was born at Harlan, Ia., December 3rd, 1859, and therefore was past 61 years of age. She was married to Moses Henry Longcor at Harlan January 28, 1878. Eleven children were born to them, ten of whom are now living and were at her bedside when the end came. Mr. Longcor died about three years ago at Wayne, and the body was taken there for interment by his side.

The following children and relative survive: James, of this city; Mrs. Bertha Wade, of Royal, Neb.; Henry, of Meadow Grove, Neb.; Dyke, of O’Neil, Neb.; Guy, of Norfolk, Neb.; Mrs. Vinnie Hughes and Mrs. Mabel Olson, of Omaha, Neb.; Maude, Claude and Dale who lived at the home with their mother.

She leaves two sisters, Mrs. C. W. Duncan, of Ainsworth, Neb., and Mrs. John Gurnette, of Council Bluff, Ia.; and three brothers, J. W., Lincoln, and Carney McConnell; twenty grandchildren.

Mrs. Longcor had lived here but a short time, but her sterling character was quickly impressed upon all who knew her. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of all who know them.

#2-28 Apr., 1921 - The Enterprise - Chloe McConnell Longear Chloe Ellen McConnell was born on Dec. 3, 1859 at Harlan, Iowa, and died at her home in Blair, Nebr. on April 22, 1921, being at the time of her death 61 yrs., 4 mos. and 19 days of age.

She was married to Mr. Henry Longear in Harlan, Ia. on Jan. 20, 1878. To this union were born eleven children, ten of whom are living, all were at her bedside when death came.

Her husband died over three years ago. The family moved from Iowa to Nebraska in 1889, settling in Wayne Co. where she lived til Feb. 17th when she with the children moved to Blair. She moved into her home on Saturday, and in coming down stairs on Tuesday morning, fell from the second step from the bottom, fracturing her right hip.

She seemed to be improving til Saturday when she took a turn for the worse, and gradually grew worse til death came to relieve her suffering.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at three o’clock, April 24, from her home, and the body was taken to Wayne, Neb. the following morning for burial beside her husband.

Rev. Foreman of the Baptist church officiated.

MRS. LONGCAR DIES FROM THE EFFECTS OF A FALL

Mrs. Ellen Longcor died at her home in this city Friday, April 22, aged 61 years, 4 months and 19 days.

Mrs. Longcor moved from Wayne county to Blair in February of this year, and a few days later fell downstairs and fractured her right hip. She did not improve to any extent and a week before her death her condition grew worse and death relieved her of her suffering on Friday last.

Chloe Ellen McDonald was born in Harlan, Iowa December 3, 1859, and was married to Moses H Longcor at Harland on January 20, 1878. Her husband died more than three years ago. Eleven children were born to them, ten of whom survive their parents and were present at her bedside when the end came. They are: James of Blair; Mrs. Bertha Wade of Royal; Henry of Meadow Grove; Dyke of O’Neill; Guy of Norfolk; Mrs. Vinnie Hughes and Mrs. Mabel Olsen of Omaha; Maude, Claude and Dale, who lived at home. Two sisters, Mrs. C. W. Duncan of Ainsworth and Mrs. John Gurnette of Council Bluffs; two brothers, J. W. McConnell of Lincoln and Carney McConnell, besides twenty three grandchildren survive her.

Deceased has lived in Nebraska since 1889, but was practically a stranger in Blair. The funeral was held from her late home on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. M. Foreman of the Baptist church.
