MRS. JOE EDWARDS GONE

Elizabeth Alice Tracey was born June 24, 1860 in Scioto county, Ohio. With her parents she moved to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa in 1865 where she grew to womanhood.

In 1877 she was married to Mr. Joe. L. Edwards of Mt. Pleasant where they continued to make their home until March, 1883 when she and her husband and parents moved to Blair. Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Edwards, the elder, Jesse Pearl of Los Angeles, having preceded his mother to the Great Beyond in the year 1912 and Curtis, the younger son, now residing in Omaha.

Mrs. Edwards was a woman held in high esteem by those who knew her, a consistent Christian and of a sociable disposition that brought many friends. She was a member of the W.R.C., the Eastern Star, the Royal Neighbors, the Queen Esther Circle and the Methodist Episcopal church and in health was active in all.

Mrs. Edwards was a good wife and mother, always ready to take her share of whatever burdens there were to bear and she always did it cheerfully.

She had been in poor health for sometime, and several times the family felt that the end was near, but she would really and hopes would be built up for her recovery. But the end came Tuesday morning and the soul passed to the God who gave it, thus taking from our midst one who has built for herself a place in our community that will be sadly vacant.

The funeral services were held yesterday, Wednesday, afternoon at three o’clock from the home on west Grant street, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery where sympathizing friends followed the body to its last resting place.

She leaves to mourn her the grief-stricken husband, the son, Curtis, and four grandchildren besides two brothers, Gilbert of Omaha and Guy of Los Angeles, Cal., and four sisters, Mrs. E. L. Cain of Omaha, Mrs. U. S. Cain of Fremont, Mrs. A. B. Bandle of Omaha and Mrs. Louisa Dixon of Battle Creek, Nebr.

MRS. J. L. EDWARDS RELEASED FROM SUFFERING

Mrs. Elizabeth Alice Edwards, wife of J. L. Edwards, fell asleep on Tuesday morning, Nov. 29, to awaken in the great beyond after many months of suffering, through all of which she was patient and resigned.

Elizabeth Alice Tracy was born in Scioto county, Ohio June 24, 1860, and was 61 years, 5 months and 5 days old at the time of her death.

When she was five years of age she moved with her par;ends to Mr. Pleasant, Iowa, where she grew to young womanhood, and on Nov. 13, 1887 she became the wife of Joseph L. Edwards of the same place, the marriage taking place at Mt. Pleasant. Two children were born to them, Jessie Pearl and John Curtis. The former passed away on July 13, 1912, and Curtis lives in Omaha.

Mrs. Edwards became a member of the Methodist church of this city during the time Rev. J. G. Schick, now superintendent of the Columbus district, was pastor here, and was a faithful, helpful member during her life until illness rendered service impossible, but even then she took an interest in the church and its possibilities. She was highly esteemed by all who knew her and loved by a large circle of friends who were anxious for her restoration to health.

Two years ago Mrs. Edwards was taken ill, but rallied intermittently and would be able to be up part of the time and was always at her accustomed place at church when able to do so. Finally, however, she became too weak to make the venture, and during the past year has been confined to her bed the greater part of the time. She had the best medical attention and nursing available, but her case was beyond earthly help. She expressed herself ready and willing to go to the home beyond and realized that her time here was brief.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Women’s Relief Corps, the Queen Esther Circle and a charter member of the Royal Neighbors, all of these orders being represented at the funeral which was held from her late home on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. J. A. Johnson, pastor of the local church, assisted by Rev. W. H. Underwood, conducting the obsequies.

Surviving her are her husband, one son, Curtis, two brothers, Gilbert Tracy of Omaha and Guy Tracy of Los Angeles, Calif.; her sisters, Mrs. H. S. Cain of Fremont; Mrs. J. C. Cain and Mrs. A. B. Banse of Omaha and Mrs. Louis Dixon of Sioux City; besides other relatives and a legion of friends who sincerely mourn her passing. She was laid away to rest in the cemetery at Blair where her grave will be tenderly cared for by those who loved her in life.

Thus another good woman has gone to her crowning.
