Loyal R. "Irish" Bridges, 74, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at his home in Blair.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Lincoln (Neb.) Memorial Park Cemetery.

Loyal R. Bridges was born Nov. 22, 1932, in Beattie, Kan., to Melvin and Hazel (Hurtie) Bridges. He graduated from Lincoln High School.

On Oct. 3, 1952, he married Shirley Cole in Lincoln.

In January of 1953, he entered the U.S. Army and was discharged in January, 1955.

In 1976, Mr. and Mrs. Bridges moved to Blair. He worked as a surveyor in Lincoln and in Millard for several years and, in 1979, started Utility Service Group, which he ran until his death.

Mr. Bridges was a member of the Papillion Masonic Lodge No. 39, and the Blair American Legion Post No. 154.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughters and sons-in-laws, Colene and Randy Penry of Blair, Colela and Tim Grace of Blair; sons and daughter-in-law, Cole and Mary Bridges of Omaha; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; a twin sister and her husband, Loyala and Joe Dvorak of Utica, sister and brother-in- law, Bonnie and Melvin Suchy of Ceresco; brother, Gary Bridges of Lincoln; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Dennis Lee; two sisters and one brother.

SERVICES 10:30 am Fri., Campbell Aman Funeral Home. Burial 1 pm, Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. VISITATION starts Thurs 12 pm, with family receiving friends from 6-8 pm. Memorials to the family.
