Pioneer Woman Dies At Home in Oregon

Mrs. A. C. Jones received a letter from Mrs. Fannie B. Slipp, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Perkins, and formerly of this city, telling of the death of her mother, Mrs. A. Perkins. Mr. and Mrs. Perkins were pioneers of this county, and Mr. Perkins served as County Judge a number of years. About fifteen years ago they moved to Portland, Oregon. The following portion of the letter gives particulars of the death of Mrs. Perkins and will be read with a great deal of sorrow by many of the older residents of the community.

“Portland, Ore., Dec. 14, 1917-Dear Mrs. Jones. I have sad news to send you; our best friend and mother has gone to her Saviour having died Tuesday, Dec. 11th, and was buried Wednesday afternoon. She had been suffering for about three weeks with leakage of the bronchial tube and wound up with gastritis, suffering terribly with her stomach and back. She was dying from Monday until Tuesday, and was unconscious.

Father is bedfast and needs night and day care; he is weak and hard to manage.”
