Leyn R. Fluckey, 63

Leyn R. Fluckey, 63, died Aug. 14, 2004, at his home in rural Fontanelle.

Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, with the Rev. Rick Kanoy of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home by American Legion Post No. 71 and V.F.W. Post No. 8332 of Arlington. Interment will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, and from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Moser Memorial Chapel.

Leyn R. Fluckey was born March 10, 1941, in Rupert, Idaho. He grew up in Arlington and was a 1958 graduate of Arlington High School.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from Jan. 22, 1959, until Jan. 15, 1963, stationed in Japan. He then enlisted in the Navy, where he served aboard the U.S.S. Guadalcanal. He was discharged on Aug. 9, 1967.

On Jan. 2, 1966, he married Sue Aldrich at Arlington.

He moved to Fort Calhoun, where he worked for Omaha Public Power District until retiring in 1996. He had lived at Fontanelle for the past 15 years.

Mr. Fluckey was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; two daughters and a son-in-law, Melony Fluckey of Tulsa, Okla., and Michelle and Dave Turnquist of Santa Maria, Calif.; mother, Lorraine Wilkening of Fremont; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Eula Fluckey of Papillion; and two granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leyn Fluckey.
