Charles Oliver Smoyer, age 90 of Blair, passed away Sept. 2, 2018, surrounded by his family in Lakeland at the home of his son, Ron Smoyer. Charles will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Emmaus, Pa., next to his wife of 57 years, Jean D. Smoyer.

Charles was born Sept. 1, 1928, in Franklin, Pa., the son of Oliver and Ruth Smoyer. Charles was a career military man serving in the United States Army for more than 21 years; retiring as a master sergeant. He was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair and a dedicated volunteer at St. John's Catholic Church in Fort Calhoun during the fish fries.

Charles is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Joan of Blair; grandchildren, Blair, Joe and Macy; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, and son, Bruce.
