Kenneth Wayne (Fred) Smock entered Eternal Rest with the Father on September 9th, 2018 at the age of 61 years old.

Kenneth was born on October 2nd, 1956 in Omaha, Nebraska to Dixie and William (Jack) Smock. He grew up in the Florence area of Omaha with his brothers William Jr. and James.

Kenneth enjoyed searching for treasures with his father in local junkyards. He got his first job at the age of 12 in a broom factory. Kenneth graduated from Omaha North High School in 1973. He began his work as a carpenter, working for different builders, before going into business for himself in 1990. He continued in business for himself until the time of his illness.

He married Rita Block on November 3rd, 1990 and was happily married for 27 years. Kenneth built two homes from the ground up for his wife and four children.

When he wasn’t on the job, you would find him working on his pond, making different woodworking projects for his family and friends, or helping his daughters with different remodeling projects in their homes. Every year, he enjoyed going on vacation with his family to Lake Okoboji.

Kenneth loved going fishing with his wife, taking his boat out on the lake, going to WalMart in the mornings for doughnuts for breakfast, and taking his grandchildren to Arnold’s Park.

The apple of Kenneth’s eye were his grandchildren. He never missed the chance to support his grandkids. He was truly their biggest fan.

Kenneth was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair and confirmed his faith with his son, Joe, in May, 2004.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Rita, daughter Lisa & Kevin Horak, son Brad & Joanna Long, daughter Stephanie & Damon Peters, son Joseph Smock, grandchildren Max & Samantha Horak and Carter Ross, mother Dixie Harrill, brothers William & Lisa Smock Jr and James Smock & Ann Marie Schmitz, stepbrothers Mike Keil, Ron & Cheryl Kiel, aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father William (Jack) Smock and his grandmother Ethel Smock.
