Word was received here last Saturday of the death of James Ware, which occurred at North Platte, Nebr., at 8:20 Friday evening. The news was not unexpected, for Mr. Ware had been in poor health for some time past. The body was brought here Sunday and taken directly to the cemetery for burial by the side of his son, Paxton, whose death occurred from influenza last January. Father Beyersdorfer conducted a simple service at the grave, which was the only service held, in accordance with his wishes. The body was accompanied here by his wife and daughter, Margaret, now Mrs. Wm. Waltemath, and husband, and Mrs. Paxton Ware, who had been out there for about a week before Mr. Ware’s death. There were other old friends here from North Platte, Omaha and elsewhere over the state.

James William Ware was born in Kentucky, April 21st, 1848, and was therefore just past 71 years of age at the time of his death. He came to Nebraska in 1874 and settled on a ranch near Ogallala, which he conducted until 1890 where he moved onto the farm just south of town, which was his home for 29 years. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Carroll in Denver in 1886 and two children were born to them, Paxton and Margaret, now Mrs. Waltemath, of North Platte. Besides the wife and daughter, he leaves one brother, Joe, and one sister, Mrs. Ed Houff, of Middleton, Mo. Mr. Ware was a member of the Elks Lodge. He was a kindly and loveable character and will be greatly missed by his neighbors and friends. The bereaved wife and daughter have the sincere sympathy of all, having been called to the house of mourning twice within so short a time

The many old friends and neighbors of the Ware family, were shocked to learn of the death of Mr. James Ware at the home of his daughter, Margaret, now Mrs. Wm. Waltemath of North Platte, Neb., on the evening of May 23, 1919. The body was brought to the Catholic cemetery where his son Paxton, was buried a few months ago. Father Beyersdorfer of the local Catholic Church held a short services at the grave in the presence of relatives and old friends from Blair, Omaha, and North Platte.

The following friends served as pallbearers, Dr. I. Lukens, Tekamah, Eugene Burdic, Herman, Geo. Mudd, Hersey, Neb., Geo. Donaldson, Omaha, Fred Claridge, James Maher, and Eugene Beaty, of Blair.

James Ware was born April 21, 1848 in Kentucky and came to Nebraska, directly to Ogallala in 1874 where he organized the Paxton and Ware Land and Cattle Co. He was married in 1886 in Denver to Miss Elizabeth Carroll, who with a daughter survives him. In 1890 he move with his family to the farm near Blair which has practically been the family home ever since, although in 1899 he return to North Platte and personally conducted the ranch there for ten years.

Mr. Ware has been in poor health some time and the death of his only son, Paxton, a young man, who had practically taken all business responsibilities off his father’s shoulders for a number of years, was a severe shock and loss to him.
