Lawrence “Kent” Merriman, 66 years, of Fremont died Friday, June 15, 2018, at his home. He was born Dec. 8, 1951, in Cherry Point, North Carolina, to Lawrence R. and Margaret A. (Rinaker) Merriman.

He was a graduate of Arlington High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from June 22, 1970, to April 4, 1974, serving in the Vietnam War. Kent married Elaine Korus on May 14, 1989, in Fremont. He grew up in Arlington and moved to Fremont in the early 1970s. He worked as a maintenance tech at Cargill and retired in 2015.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Fremont; son, Romuleus (Ashley) Merriman of Fremont; brothers, David Merriman, Todd Merriman, John Merriman, Roger Merriman, Terry Merriman, Drew Wyman, and Clayton Wyman; sisters, Cheryl Cable, Hope Lane, Dawn Foil, Tanya Holberson, and Doris Lee; and grandchildren, Alonna Merriman, Emery Merriman and Rowan Merriman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and niece, Katy.

There will be no services at this time.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a designation yet to be determined.
