Services will be Friday, June 16 at Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa for Lillian E. Bro, 79 who died June 11, 1995 at the Exira Care Center in Exira. Rev. Lyle C. Lutz will officiate. Burial will be in the Exira Cemetery.

The family will meet friends Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira.

Lillian E. Bro was born to Jens Otto and Marie Jensen Levisen April 23, 1916 in Albert Lea, Freeborn county, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She attended rural school near Albert Lea, then graduated from the Albert Lea High School with the Class of 1934.

She worked as a waitress in Albert Lea and then moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she did domestic cleaning for a short time.

She attended business school in Minneapolis, then worked as a registrar at the Fairview Hospital and was a receptionist for several doctors. When she lived in Blair, she was employed at the Lutheran Publishing House.

She was a member of the Exira Lutheran church and was active in the Naomi Circle and taught Sunday School and Confirmation Classes. She belonged to the Thursday Club and was a service counselor for the Lutheran Brotherhood Fraternal Organization.

She married Ingward C. Bro at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea June 7, 1947. They farmed near Exira until retiring in the spring of 1975. At that time they moved into Exira. She became a resident of the Exira Care Center on June 2, 1995. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Doria Levisen and her brother and his wife, Thorvald and Irene Levisen.

She is survived by her husband, Ingward C. Bro of Exira; her children and their spouses, Pat and Ivan Paulsen of Folsom, California; Doug and Glenda Bro of Claremont, California; Susan McCloud of Altoona, Iowa; Bruce and Mary Bro of Harlan, Iowa and Mike and Mary Jo Bro of Bedford, Texas; her grandchildren, Craig Paulsen of San Jose, California; Jennifer Paulsen of Folsom; Andrew Bro and Paul Bro, both of Claremont; Liz McCloud, Ben McCloud and Cristy McCloud, all of Altoona; Justin Bro and Becky Bro, both of Harlan; Melssa Bro and Mitchell Bro, both of Bedford; her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Norval Nelsen; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Arnold and Erma Levisen, Earl and Maurine Levisen, Donald and Lorraine Levisen, Paul and Ruth Levisen and Myron and Patricia Levisen, all of Alert Lea, Minnesota; nieces, nephews , other relatives and friends.

Casket bearers will be Curtis Andersen, Mark Bro, Richard Bro, Jerry Hickman, Greg Jensen, Bob Levisen, Richard Nelson and Craig Paulsen.

Honorary casket bearers will be Rev. Walter Behrens, Ellen Behrens, Henry Kay, Zoe Kay, Edwin Hansen, Eleanor Hansen, Rev. Stanley Hansen, Mary Faith Hansen, Harold Stadsvold, Esther Stadsvold, Clarence Van Aernam, Elaine Van Aernam, Bork Kjergaard, Edna Kjergaard, Lucille Kjergaard, Howard Klinkefus, Winnifred Andersen and Florence Mumm.
