Services for Bess Z. Brown, 80, of Arlington, who died October 29, 1986, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, were held Saturday, November 1, in the Arlington Community Church. Rev. Robert Saunders officiated and burial was in the Arlington Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown was born November 23, 1905, the daughter of Oliver and Minnie Gilmore of Nickerson.

She attended schools at Elkhorn and Fremont. Mrs. Brown lived in Fremont prior to her marriage.

She married Lawrence Brown on February 16, 1932, in Papillion. The couple farmed southeast of Arlington for 51 years and moved into Arlington three years ago.

Mrs. Brown was a member of the Arlington Community Church, Sarepta Chapter 48 O.E.S. at Arlington and was a 50-year member and a Past Matron and served as Grand Officer in 1932.

Survivors include her husband of Arlington; one daughter, Mrs. Alvin (Kay) Voss of Arlington; two sisters, Mrs. Muriel Wiegand of Cedar Bluffs and Norma Gilmore of Fremont; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, William Gilmore; three sisters, Lelia Wiegand, Olive Schroeder and Dora Walroth.

Pallbearers were Robert Wiegand, Carrol Wiegand, Tim Prchal, Robert Brown, LeRoy Brown and Tom Brown.

Memorials may be given to the church and to the Arlington Rescue Squad.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home of Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
