Funeral services were March 9 at Laurel Presbyterian Church, Hager City, Wisconsin, for Dagne I. Brown, 87, who died March 5, 1990 at St. John's Regional Health Center, Red Wing, Minnesota.

The daughter of Hans and Maria Jeppesen, Dagne I. Brown was born April 19, 1902 in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 1904 the family crossed the Atlantic, traveled the St. Lawrence seaway and settled in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

She married John Calvin Brown, A World War I veteran, in 1919 and the couple moved to Hager City in 1921 where they were rural mail carriers-in the beginning traveling 26 miles each day by horse and buggy. She continued the mail route on her own for over a year after her husband's death in 1955, and later worked at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis.

She was a member of Laurel Presbyterian Church, Ladies Aid and the Bay City Legion Auxiliary. She made over 30 trips to Alaska, starting with a trip to the Alcan Highway in 1952 with her son Leon's family. She helped her son, George, and family start the Lucky Wishbone Restaurant in Anchorage and served as a director of that business.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are one daughter Elaine (Mrs. Robert) Duden of Blair; three sons, George Brown and Leon Brown of Anchorage, Alaska and Jack Brown of Hager City, Wisconsin; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three sisters, all of Minneapolis and one brother of Pulaski, Virginia.

A memorial has been established at Laurel Presbyterian Church in Hager City, Wisconsin.
