Duane Erwin Petersen was born to Erwin and Wilma (Cornish) Petersen on March 29, 1936 in Tekamah, Nebraska. He passed away on August 27, 2018 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska after a month-long stay.

Duane received his education in country schools and graduated from Tekamah High school in 1953. He served in the Army and the Army reserves for three years.

On November 26, 1960 Duane was married to Marilyn Dall in Omaha. They lived on a farm north of Tekamah, near Silver Creek, for most of their lives. Duane was a life-long farmer.

He loved his farming and worked extra hard all his life. He loved his special dogs too. He also enjoyed visiting the guys at the Co-Op over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Wilma Petersen of Tekamah; in-laws, Thomas (Mabel) Dall of Omaha, brothers-in-law, Vern (Bobbie) Dall of Fremont, NE, Russell “Gus” Dall of Washington, NE.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn Petersen; son, Stephen Petersen of Hershey, NE; daughter, Stacy (Pat) Long of Blair, NE; grandsons, Nicholas Long of Aurora, CO, Christopher Long of Beatrice, NE; two sisters, Dian (Edwin) Williams of Fayetteville, AR, Donna (Alan) Hensley of Glenwood, IA; sister-in-law, Reva Dall of Washington, many nieces and nephews.
