Mrs. H. H. Couchman, of Ft. Calhoun, was stricken with apoplexy while getting breakfast last Saturday morning and lost consciousness in a few minutes. Death occurred at 10 o’clock Sunday night. The funeral will be held when her daughter, Mrs. Arnold, arrives from St. Paul. The other daughter, Mrs. Henry Roberts, came down from Tekamah as soon as she learned her mother had been stricken. Mrs. Couchman was 66 years of age the 7th of last August. She came to Calhoun in 1870 as a music teacher and married Mr. Couchman shortly after. She was a woman of high character, was a great reader and her intellectual attainments were far above the average. Her sudden death will bring great sorrow, not only to her husband and daughters, but to all who knew her.

Note: Birth name from husband's obituary; birth/death date from her tombstone (the newspaper had her 63 years old--she was 66 based on her tombstone)
