BOY MEETS DEATH BY DROWNING

MELVIN JACOBS DROWNED IN MISSOURI RIVER LAST SUNDAY AFTERNOON. GETS INTO DEEP WATER. UNABLE TO SWIM

THE BODY IS STILL UNFOUND

Melvin Jacobs, age sixteen years, met death by drowning in the Missouri river just north of the Blair bridge last Sunday afternoon. A number of young men and boys had gathered at this point for a swim in the river. Some were expert swimmers and some could not swim. Young Jacobs was one of the latter and was, according to reports, a companion in play shoved him into deep water. It is said that he managed to reach shallow water, but was pushed back again, this time further out. His cries attracted another companion who attempted to save him but without avail.

Deceased was the son of Mrs. Clifford Ray. The body has not at this writing been found.
