PETER NOHRENBERG

Peter Nohrenberg, early settler of Washington county, passed away June 28, 1931 at the Old People’s Home in Florence. Had he lived until July 7, he would have reached his eighty-fourth birthday.

Deceased was born in Germany and came to this country in 1865, settling first in Missouri. In 1868 he came to this county, and took a homestead just west of Blair where he continued to make his home until sixteen years ago when he left the farm and retired.

He was married to Anna Boutenshine in 1873 and to this union seven children were born, five boys and two girls. Of these, four sons are living: Henry of Blair, John of Decatur, Herman of White River, South Dakota and Chris of Omaha.

The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the German Lutheran church of this city of which he was a member and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Note:

Florence, Nebraska, has ceased to exist independently. By annexation it has become part of its larger neighbor, Omaha. Situated in northeastern Douglas County, Florence had the distinction of being the site of the first white settlement within that county.—online Nebraska history site
