Mencke, Lee Edward Aug 19, 1941 - Oct 16, 2018 Age 77 of Blair, passed away at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair. Lovingly remembered by his sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Robert Gnuse of Arlington; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Jaccie Mencke of Herman; nephews: Doug (LuAnne) Gnuse, Michael Gnuse, David (Jennifer) Gnuse, Matthew (Kristine) Gnuse, Brent Mencke, and Craig (Crystal) Mencke; and many great-nieces and nephews. FUNERAL SERVICES: Friday, October 19, 1:30pm, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home Chapel. Interment: Blair Cemetery. Luncheon following graveside service at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home. Lee Edward Mencke, 77 of Blair, passed away Oct. 16, 2018, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home. Interment will follow in the Blair Cemetery. Luncheon following graveside service at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home. Visitation was held Thursday, Oct. 18, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Lee was born Aug. 19, 1941, to Lloyd and Dorothy (Bishop) Mencke of Herman. He attended Glendale District 45 Country School and graduated from Herman High School in 1958. Lee loved playing basketball for the Herman Cardinals and was a member of the Cardinals basketball team that went to the 1958 State Tournament. Lee attended Dana College, earning a bachelor's degree in business. He worked many years for Marshall Nurseries in Arlington. After his retirement, he cared for his parents at their farm in rural Herman and when they moved to Johannsen Manor in Blair. Lee was a resident at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home for many years. The staff became his extended family. He loved visiting with them and enjoyed the activities they provided. Lee was a member of the Herman United Methodist Church.

Lee is lovingly remembered by his sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Robert Gnuse of Arlington; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Jaccie Mencke of Herman; nephews, Doug (LuAnne) Gnuse, Michael Gnuse, David (Jennifer) Gnuse, Matthew (Kristine) Gnuse, Brent Mencke, and Craig (Crystal) Mencke; and many great nieces and nephews.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be directed to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home or to the family for later designation.
