Rose Marie (Sheets) Ackerman was born Feb. 19, 1958, in Blair, to Charlie Sheets and Mattie Jane (Whitnack) Frye Sheets of Herman. She passed away Nov. 16, 2018, at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy in Omaha, at the age of 60 years.

Rose attended Tekamah-Herman Schools. She later received her diploma at Bahner College of Beauty in Fremont. She worked as a waitress and cashier throughout her life. Working within the community brought her great happiness.

In 1982, Rose married George Ackerman. To this union were born three children, Shannon, Brandon and Zachary. The family made Tekamah their home.

Rose enjoyed her grandchildren, family gatherings and, of course, Husker football. Rose is loved by many and will always be missed by those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert “Bobby” Frye, Monte Frye and Harold “Punky” Frye; sisters, Betty Grady, Mary Ann Snyder; and her sister-in-law, Kathleen Frye. She is survived by her husband, George Ackerman; daughter, Shannon (Clint) Smeal; sons, Brandon (Susan) Ackerman and Zachary (Shelby) Ackerman; grandchildren, Promise and Michael Smeal, Larissa, Griffin and Zoe “Bug” Ackerman; brother, Stanley “Cork” (Tammy) Frye; sister, Alice Gorman; many cherished nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, 10:30 a.m., at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. Visitation was held on Monday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with family receiving friends, at Pelan Funeral Services in Tekamah. Burial will be at the Tekamah Cemetery. Memorials are directed to the family for later designation.
