Wesley P. "Wes" Brown, 76, Blair, died Friday Nov. 7, 1997.

Services were Nov. 10 at Boyd E. Braman Mortuary in Omaha. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Brown was born Oct. 5, 1921 to Lewis and Henrietta (Witt) Brown. He served in the South Pacific with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was wounded when his ship was sunk in the Leyte Gulf in the Philippines. He was a Purple Heart veteran. He married Sylvia Paulsen of Bennington in 1944. He had lived in the Benson area since his birth and they raised their family in the Benson area home in which they lived for 50 years. After retiring in 1984, he and his wife spent their winters in Zapata, Texas. They moved to Blair when he was admitted to Crowell Memorial Home.

He was a member of the John J. Mercer Lodge No. 290; a charter member of Tangier Shrine Roadrunners; a life member of the Benson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2503; a member of the Disabled American Veterans; American Legion Post No. 486 in Zapata and of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3215 in Blair.

Survivors are his wife Sylvia, Blair; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Vicki Brown, Elkhorn; Ronald and Debbie Brown, Storm Lake, Iowa; Ken and Mary Lou Brown, Aurora, Colo.; five grandchildren, Megan Brown, Melissa Prouty, Mara Brown, Christopher Brown and Amy Brown; one great-granddaughter, Kayla Prouty; a sister, Yvonne Carlson and a brother, Carrol Brown, both of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Brown and a sister, Roberta Brown Post.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or the Roadrunners Transportation Fund.
