Mrs. Elizabeth Dickson Bruce was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, on January 28, 1884, the daughter of Jane LeFeure and Burnett Dickson.

She came to the United States in 1912, sailing from Scotland the week after the Titanic was sunk.

Her fiance, Robert Bruce, had come to America in 1911 and sent for his bride-to be after finding employment in Chicago.

They were married in 1912 shortly after her arrival and made their home in Chicago.

Following her husband's death, she made her home with her daughter Mrs. Irvin Will, moving with them to Omaha, Nebraska, in 1959. The Wills and Mrs. Bruce moved to the Blair area in 1968.

The last twelve years, Mrs. Bruce lived at Crowell Memorial Home and was the oldest resident at the time of her death on May 1, 1987, having celebrated her 103rd birthday this past January 28.

Mrs. Bruce is survived by her daughter Mrs. Jennie Will; two sons, Robert J. and Burnett Bruce, both of Chicago, Illinois; eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends.

Memorial services were held at the Sievers-Sprick mortuary in Fort Calhoun Monday, May 4, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Morland S. Adell of Crowell Home.
