Funeral services were Saturday, May 12 at Arlington Community Church in Arlington for Walter J. Brummett, 65, who died May 8, 1990 at the Neligh Nursing Center, Neligh, Nebraska from pneumonia. Rev. Don Cassiday officiated. Burial was in the Arlington Cemetery.

Walter J. Brummett was born June 30, 1924 in Elton, Louisiana. He came to Nebraska at the age of six and lived in the Arlington area.

He was a self-employed carpenter and also worked at Marshall Nursery prior to working at Valmont. He was a drill press operator for Valmont Industries from 1971 until his retirement in 1988 after which he moved to Pilger and then to O'Neill.

He was a past member of the Arlington Congregational Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Dora Brown Brummett; and a brother, Cephas.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Tina Brummett of Webster City, Iowa; Lyn Brummett of Oakdale, Nebraska; and Les and Cindy Brummett of Columbus; daughters, Diane Lee of Atkinson, Nebraska and Cindy (Mrs. Steve) Kraft of Neligh; one sister, Helen Thornton of Marysville, Washington; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Dennis Decker, Bob French, Glen Keeler, David Newell and Melvin Sorensen. Ruby House was organist.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
