Memorial services for Trudy K. Nilges, age 68, of Blair, will be Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner. Private family interment will be in the Wisner Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the family.

Trudy passed away on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at CHI-Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.

Trudy Kay (Braun) Nilges was born on May 10, 1950, at West Point, to Edward and Alta (Paasch) Braun. She grew up in Wisner and attended Wisner Public Schools.

On June 4, 1967, she was united in marriage to Lonnie Nilges at the United Methodist Church in Wisner. The couple lived in Wisner, where Trudy helped run the lunch counter at the bowling alley with her mother-in-law Dorothy Meyer and they later operated the Jewel Cafe together. Trudy later worked in the cafeteria at Wisner-Pilger High School.

In 1986, the family moved to Blair, where Trudy did in home daycare for many years and later worked for Huntel before being forced to retire due to health issues.

Trudy enjoyed camping, going to movies, bowling, traveling, playing cards, trips to the casino, and family gatherings.

Survivors include, daughter, Brenda Stewart, and her sons, Tarron and Kershaun, all of Omaha; son, Jeff Nilges and Shawna Novak and their family, Alexa, Avery, Addy, Alexandra and Aniston, all of Blair; sisters, Betty Eschliman of Wisner, Judy and Raymond Buhrman of Fremont; brother, Melvin and Judy Braun of Wisner; sisters-in-law, Shirley Braun of Escalon, Calif., Tami and Jeff Rabe of Wisner; brothers-in-law, Barry and Roxanne Meyer of Wisner, and Doug Nilges of Pender.

Trudy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lonnie Nilges; and her siblings, Harold Braun, Clifford Braun, Roseann Simms, Mary Braun, Ardel Braun, Arlene Braun and Delwin Braun.
