Robert Lee Benning, age 75 of Blair, passed away Jan. 14, 2019, at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha. Memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Military graveside services will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Blair. Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 17, with family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a vigil at 7 p.m. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Robert was born July 30, 1943, in Randolph, the son of John and Isabel Benning. In 1958, the family moved to Pittsville, Wis., where he attended and graduated from Pittsville High School in 1962. On Jan. 31, 1963, he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. On Jan. 26, 1966, he was honorably discharged from the Army and returned to Nebraska and resided in Omaha. Robert began working at Control Data as a tool and die maker, and later began working for Jensen Construction until his retirement in 2006. He is survived by Mary Wilson of Blair; children, Angela (Shane) Revia of Ralston, Sonja (Bryan) Herngren of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Tracy (Daniel) Wineinger of Omaha, Lisa (Steven) Shoup of Omaha, Andrea Wilson of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Jason (Laurie) Wilson of Blair; brother, Ronald Benning of Rice Lake, Wis.; grandchildren, Nick and Josh Revia, Michaela, Lcpl. Brandon and Garrett Cohen, Tina Benning, Sandy (Chris) Klein, and Abigail and Tyler Wilson; four great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ed, LaVern and Charles Benning; and sisters, Minnie Anderson, Helen Benning and Avery Benning. #2-Published in the Omaha World Herald January 16, 2019
