Lucille Mary (Dawkins) Combs

Lucille Mary Dawkins was born on Dec. 21, 1924, in Caputa, S.D., to William T. and Nellie (Klinkner) Dawkins. She passed away on Jan. 15, 2019, in Blair at age 94.

Lucille had two older brothers, Leo and William. As a young child her family moved to Chadron, where she spent her childhood.

She was united in marriage with Thomas Dave Combs on July 20, 1946, in Chadron. They had two sons, Geary and Larry. In 1949, they purchased Ideal Cleaners in Valentine. They operated the business until retirement in 1965.

Lucille was an accomplished seamstress and did alterations and repairs for the drycleaning business. She was active in St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Valentine and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and raising flowers.

In 2014, she moved to Crowell Home in Blair.

She is survived by two sons, Geary (Linda) Combs and Larry Combs, both of Blair; grandchildren, Jason Combs of Vienna, Va., and Kelly Trumble of Pagosa Springs, Colo., and four great-grandchildren, Thane and Colin Trumble and Michael and Rebekah Combs.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Valentine.
