Former Blair Newspaper Society Editor Died at Age of 74

Goldie M. Dye, daughter of Levi and Mary York, was born February 21, 1904 on a farm near Tekamah, Nebraska, and, following a lingering illness, passed from this life at the Blair Hospital on Monday, June 5, 1978 at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 15 days.

Goldie resided at the place of her birth her entire life. She attended the Tekamah High School, graduating in 1923. She immediately went to work for Dr. Frank Ellenberger as a dental assistant, which position she retained until he retired. She then found employment with the Blair Newspaper and held that position until her retirement.

She was united in marriage to John R. Dye of Craig, Nebraska. The young couple made their home with her mother and resided on the home place for their entire married life. John preceded her in death on July 21, 1972.

In early life she united with the First Presbyterian Church of Tekamah, Nebraska and was a faithful member at the time of her passing. She was faithful in attending services, sang in the church choir, and was active in the Women’s Association.

Goldie was initiated into the Order of the Eastern Star, Tekamah Chapter No. 131 on September 28, 1943. She was a Past Worthy Matron of that organization and held the post of Treasurer at the time of her illness. She was also an active member of the Daughters of the Nile, Sat-Ra Temple No. 59, having joined in the year 1942. Mrs. Dye was a community minded person belonging to numerous organizations that all lent themselves to community betterment.

Survivors are: 1 sister and brother-in-law, Ingram and Clara Clark of Tekamah, Nebraska; 4 nephews; 1 niece; and a host of other relatives, neighbors and friends.
