Brooke Jessica Rittenhouse Martinez was born on June 16, 1975 in Omaha, Nebraska to Gary and Suzanne (Stenglein) Rittenhouse. She grew up in the Waterloo/Valley area where she attended District #15 Country School and graduated from Valley High School in 1993. Brooke graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 1997 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. As a young girl, she enjoyed sports, books and playing at the farm with kittens. In High School, Brooke was involved in Student Council and Honor Society.

Brook married John Martinez, Jr. on September 4, 2004 at the United Faith Community Church in Valley, Nebraska and they have made their home in the Denver, Colorado area.

Brooke worked at Roma’s as a server while she was in college and served as Vice-President of 1st National Bank of Colorado after her graduation. She enjoyed listening to music, hanging out at the lake, the mountains and spending time with the family. Brooke was a loving, beautiful, kind-hearted and supportive woman who will be remembered for her curly hair, beautiful smile and blue eyes. She enjoyed R & B music, was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos and the Huskers. Brooke savored an authentic enchilada, a cold diet coke and dinner out at El Bee’s Farmer Brown’s or Big Fred’s. She didn’t care for clutter or dirty stuff. Brooke could often be heard saying “Be kind” and “It’s all good”, affirming her positive attitude.

Brooke passed away on June 12, 2018 at her home in Thornton, Colorado at the age of 42 years, 11 months and 28 days. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Jack and Catherine Stenglein and Doris Rittenhouse, brother Jack Rittenhouse and nephew Garret Rittenhouse along with other aunts, uncles and cousins. Brooke is survived by her husband John; parents Gary and Suzanne Rittenhouse of Waterloo; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Angie (Chantz) Hanson of Valley, Joe (Andrea) Martinez of Colorado and Tanya (Ronnie) Duran of Colorado; parents-in-law John and Elaine Martinez, Sr. of Colorado; nieces and nephews.
