Mr. Eli Bond, who has been a resident of Blair for quite a number of years, died at Emerson, Neb., Monday, February 10. The remains were brought back to Blair for interment Thursday, accompanied by many of the relatives. The funeral service was conducted in the Presbyterian building and was conducted by Rev. John B. Williams, pastor of the Christian Church. The scripture lesson was from the Gospel of John, Chapter 14, and the sermon text was 2 Timothy, 4: 6-8. In connection with the sermon the speaker gave the following obituary notes:

Eli Bond was born in Loccock, Gloucestershire, England, July 14, 1844, and was over seventy-four and a half years of age when he died. In his early live he was an iron worker, employed in the great iron foundries of Central England. He married Miss Sarah Wiley, September 19, 1863, at Coity, Gloucestershire, and they are the parents of eleven children, five sons and six daughters, all of whom are living and married. Eight of the children were born in England and three in this country.

Vig Files at the Danish American Archives have the children’s name recorded: Louise, William, Eli, Joseph, Charlotte Emede, Sarah Ann “Sadie” Sheets, Mathilda Wagner, Elizabeth Greenfield, and Ethel Ludwick.
