Scott Allen Rites Held Wednesday-Of Pioneer Family, Native of County, Active In Civic Work-Burial Made in Blair Cemetery

Chauncy Scott Allen was born January 19, 1876 and passed away at an Omaha hospital on March 3, 1941 after a severe illness lasting for several months.

Scott was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Allen, who were pioneer settlers of this county, and spent his entire life within a short distance of the place of his birth.

He was married to Adele McPherson on December 22, 1896, She preceded him in death two years ago and the children, five sons and two daughters, are left to mourn his death. They are Walter, of Detroit, Michigan; William of Benson; Rollo of Fontanelle; John of Benson; Mac living on the home farm; Odie, (Mrs. Irvan Cary) of Detroit, Michigan; and Gertrude, (Mrs. Charles Merritt) of Arlington; also, one sister, Mrs. Joe Lazure and three brothers, Grant, Clyde and Clark all of this vicinity and a host of friends.

Deceased was always interested in civic affairs and at this death was president of the Nebraska-Iowa Co-operative Milk Association which position he had held for the past four years.

He was a good friend, a good neighbor and a good man for the community and he will be greatly missed.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at one o’clock from the home and at 2:30 p.m. from the Congregational Church in Blair and interment was made in the Blair Cemetery.
