Mrs. Carl F. Kolterman Rites Held May 21-In Ill Health for About Six Years, Was Old Resident

Mrs. Carl F. Kolterman, well known in Blair circles, passed away last Monday morning following an illness of several years’ duration.

Mrs. Kolterman was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Von Lanken and came here in April of 1899, over forty-two years ago.

She was married to Carl F. Kolterman on January 28, 1906 and the husband and three sons, Herbert of Humboldt, Frederick of Wahoo, and Carl Jr., of Blair, survive. With the exception of three years spent in Scribner, Nebraska, the family has made Blair its home.

When the Von Lanken family came to Blair Mr. Von Lanken founded a variety store, known as the Racket Store with Mr. Kolterman took over in January, 1911, and which business he built into the present Ben Franklin store.

Mrs. Kolterman, before her marriage worked with her father in the store and thus formed a very wide acquaintance and with her gracious manner and her conscientious mode of life she made these acquaintances also her warm friends and admirers.

Besides the bereaved husband and sons she leaves three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Von Lanken and Mrs. Henry Lorenzen of Blair, and Mrs. Catherine Bruse of Pueblo, Colorado and an adopted brother, Arlington Von Lanken of Texas.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and of the Ladies Aid of that church. At the last rites on Wednesday, afternoon at 2 o’clock the minister of her faith, Rev. H. C. Jul Frese was in charge, the funeral where she had worshipped for years. Interment was made in the Blair Cemetery.
