Delmar “Del” Becker, age 90 years, of Fremont, formerly of Waterloo, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, at his home in Fremont with his family by his side.

Delmar Allan Becker was born on May 26, 1928, in Springfield, Nebraska, to Earnest and Josephine ((Harbison) Becker. He grew up in Springfield and Papillion before the family settled in Bennington where Del attended high school. As a young boy, Del was active in baseball and basketball.

Del married Evelyn Camberg on July 3, 1948, at the Presbyterian Church in Wahoo, Nebraska, and they were blessed with three children: Steve, Vicki and Tami. Del and Evelyn have lived in Kennard, the Valley/Waterloo area and Fremont.

Del worked for Hunt Transportation before working for Hartford Sand and Gravel for 34 years. At the age 62 he started and operated Allspec Sand and Gravel. Del enjoyed golf and fishing. He and Evelyn wintered in Florida for 14 years. Del was a loving, caring and generous man who did not like being the center of attention. He was easy-going and loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Del was an avid Husker fan and savored a Swiss Mushroom burger from Runza and homemade tater tot casserole.

He was preceded in death by his, parents Earnest and Josephine; and siblings, Wayne, Lucille, Marvin and Dale. Del is survived by his wife Evelyn; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Diana of Waterloo; daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Jeff Olson of Tekamah, Nebraska, and Tami and Tom Nielsen of Fremont; 8 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
