Services for Fred Brunk, age 74 of Fremont, Nebraska who died at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha December 12, 1992, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 15 at the Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at St. Edward, Nebraska.

Fred W. Brunk was born February 25, 1918 at St. Edward, Nebraska to William and Elizabeth Gumm Brunk. He attended school at St. Edward and graduated in 1937 from St. Edward High School.

After his graduation he went to St. Louis, and tried out for the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball team. After being cut from the Cardinals, he went to work for Paxton Steel Company in Kansas City.

In 1939 he went to work for Hunt Telephone Company at St. Edward as a construction lineman. He was later promoted to local manager.

He moved to Blair in December, 1955 and was the plant superintendent for the telephone company. He later went to work for Great Plains Communication as purchasing agent, retiring in 1982.

In 1986 he moved to Fremont and worked for the Fremont Country Club during the summer months.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Vernon (Butch) Hoxsie; two sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Hoxsie, Blair; son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Linda Brunk, London, England; five grandchildren, Mike and wife Teri Hoxsie, Randy Hoxsie, Lauri Hoxsie, Carin and husband Andrew Appleget and Amy Brunk; three great-grandchildren, Jacqueline Hoxsie, Jessica Hoxsie, Eric Hoxsie; one sister, Ruth Thorn of Wisconsin and one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Marvel Brunk, Cozad, Nebraska.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
