Francis A. Forsberg Dies In His Car East of Arlington

A former Washington County farmer and business man died early Tuesday morning in his car, which came to a stop in a field next to Highway 30.

Francis A. Forsberg, 63, who had been living in Fremont since he moved from a farm near Spiker several years ago, was driving from Fremont to his work on the Howard Rhea farm east of Arlington.

Mr. Forsberg’s car, reportedly, slowly moved over into the north lane of traffic as he was traveling east. A car driven by Wilbur J. Conety of Herman was traveling west in the north lane of traffic. Conety swerved right into the ditch and up an embankment, trying to avoid the Forsberg car.

The cars side-swiped each other on the embankment, with Forsberg’s car continuing on another 70 yards and rolling to a stop in a field. Mr. Conety was not injured. He climbed from his car and ran over to the Forsberg car. Mr. Conety reported that he found Mr. Forsberg dead.

The cars were not badly damaged and neither car turned over.

Dr. Dean Bloch, attending physician at the accident, attributed the cause of death to a heart attack. He stated that it was impossible to tell whether Mr. Forsberg died before or after the collision.
